The British heavyweight doubled down on his much-discussed comments about wanting to “kill” Jake Paul during a media gathering in Miami on midweek.

The remarks were originally stated on the previous day when the boxer was questioned if he would hold back against Paul, responding that “if I can kill you, I'll kill”.

The upcoming contest against the YouTuber-turned-boxer has drawn criticism over safety concerns and the size difference between the two competitors.

Tyson Fury Labels AJ a “Classless Loser”

Former titleholder The Gypsy King called Anthony Joshua a “classless loser” for his inflammatory rhetoric.

But the 36-year-old fighter, justified his position: “This is my profession, we fight. We have a license that permits extreme violence.

“I understand many people don't understand it but this is what my job is. I just enjoy what I do. Whatever happens, happens - provided that my hand is raised, that's what's paramount, respectfully.”

He stated, “That's just the mentality we have to have as fighters. I don't know if other fighters think that way. Perhaps they're a bit more reserved. The way my mind works. When you're in the squared circle, it's a dangerous thing. Anything can happen.”

“You wish your adversary leaves the ring safely, but if they don't, you still have to go to bed knowing you just did your job. It was not personal.”

Jake Paul's Fiery Response

Paul, a massive outsider in the fight as a natural lighter fighter, was equally incendiary in his reply.

“This is a modern day gladiator sport,” he said. “I'm prepared. I want his hardest punches. I want there to be no excuses when it's all said and done. Let's kill each other.”

Joshua will face Paul, 28, at Florida's Kaseya Center in a fight many consider a glaring mismatch, with some suggesting it should have been approved as an non-professional fight.

The professional contest will be contested over eight three-minute rounds using regular 10oz gloves, with a specified maximum weight for Joshua.

Joshua Claims He Was “Called In to Save” Boxing

Despite the vulgar terminology used, the fighter claimed he has been “called in to rescue” the sport of boxing.

“They want me to stop the Jake Paul show and I understand it and that's why I have to carry boxing on my back in this bout,” he concluded.

The news conference also had more humorous exchanges, with AJ laughing as Paul sang ‘London Bridge Is Falling Down’ to him.

The face-off passed peacefully, with Paul striking a bizarre pose before the champion stayed calm and playfully touched his necklace.

Paul & Joshua Deny Scripted Allegations

The unusual nature of this fight has led to rumors about its authenticity, including suggestions that he may be restricted from knocking Paul out.

“There's nothing in the contract, AJ can attest to it. We're going to battle,” Jake Paul insisted.

Joshua, sporting a expensive necklace, jokingly added, “The only thing in the contract that got my attention was the purse.”

Paul has stated on his platforms that the total purse will be extremely large.

Biggest Upset in Sport's History?

Jake Paul first made his name as an online prankster, amassing a massive online audience.

He has not faced anyone of the former champion's calibre but maintained that his rival would not underestimate him.

“It's smart on his part,” he said. “This could potentially be, and will be, the largest defeat of his life.”

A win for Paul would be arguably the most shocking surprise in the boxing's history.

It would certainly leave an indelible mark on Joshua's record, but the athlete said it would not mean retirement.

“I'd return again, shake it off,” he remarked. “I will be headlining again in a couple of years. It is what it is. I'm a player in the sport.”
