Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's 21 championships have been won on hard surfaces

A resurgent Daniil Medvedev claimed his initial title for 882 days with success over Corentin Moutet in the tournament title decider.

The Russian, a ex- top-ranked player, has endured a difficult period, achieving just one win at the Grand Slams and experiencing a difficult moment at the American major.

Medvedev's varied form on the tennis tour - and struggles with his serving in especial - resulted in him falling of the elite rankings and eventually separating with long-time mentor his previous coach.

Now training with Johansson and his other coach, he has consistently progressed in the past month - culminating in a hard-fought three-set win over opponent Corentin Moutet.

This marks his first trophy following the Italian tournament and first on a hard court from spring of 2023.

Success also means the Russian has achieved twenty-one championships at 21 distinct competitions.

"It's the first time I have attended a event with my two daughters simultaneously, so to secure a trophy is especially meaningful," stated ranked player the champion.

"This title is in dedication of my child her name, because the maiden victory I got when my child her name was delivered was for her."

The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his past six championship matches, comprising in Halle in the past months.

His defensive approach and recurring outbursts on court had caused some to doubt if his ability to play at the top level was concluded.

Yet the player has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, making an effort to approach the net and perform positively, reinforced by an improved serving game.

He fought back from a deficit in the first set against the challenging Frenchman, winning four of the concluding five exchanges to take the lead.

The pair exchanged service breaks in the second set before the challenger, attempting for his initial ATP Tour championship, seized the initiative to create a third set.

Moutet rescued four initial chances in a close deciding set before the champion won the break to fifteen to close out the victory.

Fittingly, he earned the title with a rally at the net, with Moutet incapable to control a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
