Ex- Physician Faces Assault Charges Against Thirty-Eight Patients
Prosecutors have announced that a ex- doctor has been charged with committing sexual assaults against thirty-eight victims who were under his care.
The Grave Allegations
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of dozens of acts of sexual assault – some of which involve some against minors under the age of thirteen – spanning the period from 2017 to 2021.
A deputy chief CPS official stated, “Our prosecutors have diligently worked to assist a thorough and intricate police inquiry, meticulously examining the evidence to establish that there is a strong case to bring the case to trial and that it is in the public interest.”
The Police Inquiry
The charges come after what police described as a “complex investigation” into reported assaults at two hospitals: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and a facility in Dudley.
Spencer will appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on 20 January.
Breakdown of Charges
The charging documents said the 45 sexual offences comprise:
- 15 counts of sexual assault.
- 17 counts of assault by penetration.
- Nine counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
- Three counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
- One count of attempted penetrative assault.
