Ex- Physician Faces Assault Charges Against Thirty-Eight Patients

Prosecutors have announced that a ex- doctor has been charged with committing sexual assaults against thirty-eight victims who were under his care.

The Grave Allegations

The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of dozens of acts of sexual assault – some of which involve some against minors under the age of thirteen – spanning the period from 2017 to 2021.

A deputy chief CPS official stated, “Our prosecutors have diligently worked to assist a thorough and intricate police inquiry, meticulously examining the evidence to establish that there is a strong case to bring the case to trial and that it is in the public interest.”

The Police Inquiry

The charges come after what police described as a “complex investigation” into reported assaults at two hospitals: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and a facility in Dudley.

Spencer will appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on 20 January.

Breakdown of Charges

The charging documents said the 45 sexual offences comprise:

  • 15 counts of sexual assault.
  • 17 counts of assault by penetration.
  • Nine counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
  • Three counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
  • One count of attempted penetrative assault.

Authorities have asked anyone with concerns to get in touch with the investigating team.
