Fresh Details Surface Concerning the Finding of the Reiner Couple's Remains

Recent details have emerged regarding the untimely demises of renowned film director Rob Reiner and visual artist Michele Singer Reiner, whose bodies were discovered at their Brentwood, Los Angeles property on Sunday.

The Alarm

According to a report quoting a person close to the family, a therapist arriving for an appointment first raised the alarm after failing to get inside the home. The therapist then contacted the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who resides nearby.

After gaining access to the house, Romy discovered her father's body. Accounts indicate she then fled the house in anguish, without knowing at that moment that her mother's body was also present. Her roommate who had gone with her promptly called 911. Subsequently, first responders found Michele Singer Reiner's body.

Criminal Developments

Authorities have charged the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with the charges of murder in the first degree, including the alleged use of a deadly weapon, said to be a knife. He is now detained and denied bail.

Clarifications

The confidential informant challenged several earlier details. They said that while Romy Reiner told emergency responders that her brother Nick lived in a guesthouse on the property, she did not identify him as a suspect at that time.

Furthermore refuted circulated claims that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been particularly "worried" about Nick's conduct in the preceding period. Rather the family was "familiar with working through [Nick's] problems together."

The statement includes accounts of alleged "unpredictable" behavior by Nick at a gathering thrown by Conan O'Brien on the night before the tragedy. While the source stated they were unable to confirm whether Rob had "chastised" his son at the party, they maintained that claims of a "heated argument" between the two were untrue.

Ongoing Inquiry Timeline

Per law enforcement officials, the coroner had not yet established at that point whether the Reiners died late on Saturday or on Sunday. Some media reports indicated the state of their bodies implied they had been dead for a number of hours.

Nick Reiner was arrested at around 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the Exposition Park area, about 15 miles from the family home. He was due to appear in court on Tuesday, but his lawyer, Alan Jackson, stated his client had not received medical clearance and would not appear until Wednesday or later.
