President Trump Welcomes Families of Injured Guard Members to the White House

Former President Donald Trump announced on Sunday that he has invited the family of a National Guard member tragically killed last week to attend the White House.

He mentioned that he spoke to her family and they were “deeply grieving”.

Specialist Sarah Beckstrom, 20, was fatally shot in a violent incident on Wednesday in the nation's capital.

Her comrade, Andrew Wolfe, 24, continues receiving treatment in critical condition.

Vigils across the state have taken place in their memory.

White House Call

The commander-in-chief stated he’s discussed a visit to the White House for the parents of both soldiers of the state Guard.

“I told them: ‘When you’re ready, because that’s a difficult moment, arrive at the White House. We’re going to pay tribute to Sarah,” Trump told the press. “And likewise with him, whether he recovers or not.”

Public Reaction

Community members gathered over the weekend at Webster County high school in West Virginia to remember Beckstrom.

Both the soldiers had been fulfilling duties with the state guard as part of the president’s national effort to assist policing efforts in DC.

Paying Tribute to Beckstrom

“Sarah was the kind of student that educators desired. She behaved with calm resilience, a bright grin and a positive energy that inspired people around her,” Jarrod Hankins, the head of Beckstrom’s former high school, informed the media. “She was sweet, caring and always willing to assist people.”

Officials have accused a twenty-nine-year-old individual from Afghanistan with a charge of murder and charges of attempted murder while armed.

The tragedy prompted the Trump administration to suspend refugee claims and halt granting entry permits to possessors of Afghan passports.

Status of Andrew Wolfe

Wolfe, a resident of the city, began his service in early 2019 and is a graduate of Musselman high school, according to the news agency.

He remains under medical supervision and is “battling to survive”, the state’s governor the governor mentioned on television.

The state’s top lawyer Pam Bondi told Fox News Sunday that she also intended to visit his relatives.

Sarah, from Summersville, completed her education from Webster County High in June 2023 and enlisted soon after, serving as a law enforcement officer with distinction, per the military.

“She had a lot of goodness and she definitely had courage,” Morrisey told the gathering at the vigil. “Though her life ended too soon, she has made an impact that’s going to last forever.”
