The Blue Jays Secure Fall Classic Matchup Versus the Dodgers
George Springer previously helped the Astros securing the championship in the 2017 season.
Canada's MLB team earned a spot in their first championship series after 1993 by beating the Mariners in the seventh Game 7 of the ALCS.
Trailing 3-1, the star outfielder hit a three-run home run in the seventh, leading the only Canadian franchise in MLB to a four games to three win in the series. Awaiting them are the defending champions, the team that is the current crown, in the forthcoming World Series.
"I'm thrilled for our team, Toronto, our country," commented Springer, an integral part of the Houston Astros team that claimed the 2017 championship. "What an amazing experience."
George Springer has now connected for 23 total playoff homers, making him third in history after Ramirez (29) and Jose Altuve (twenty-seven).
"There's probably not anyone else in the world that I'd choose in that moment except for him with his October magic," noted Schneider.
Seattle's team, despite leading the early in the series, are still the one club never to appear in a World Series.
Manager Dan Wilson stated "without a doubt that it's going to sting" after his team's loss at Toronto's Rogers Centre, but praised their efforts in the campaign.
"This is a unique group. It's a shame that we ended up on the wrong side of this one," he remarked.
Toronto's team claimed the World Series on both previous visits in 1992 and '93, and are set to host the Dodgers in the opener on this Friday.
